Overview

Your local carpenter in Girton

Girton, on the north-west edge of Cambridge and home to Girton College, has a good stock of larger period houses and generous family homes alongside newer development. Bigger, older homes tend to bring more involved joinery: full runs of fitted wardrobes, libraries and bookcases, alcove units either side of period fireplaces, and staircases and floors worth restoring rather than replacing.

We love this kind of work, where the joinery is designed to suit the proportions and character of the house rather than dropped in as standard units. Loft conversions and finishing carpentry are common here too, given the size and age of many properties.

We're based nearby and cover Girton in full, so do get in touch to arrange a measure-up.

Questions

Carpentry in Girton

Yes. Many Girton homes suit full runs of wardrobes, libraries and bespoke alcove joinery, and we're set up to design and build to the proportions of larger period rooms.

Often, yes. We can replace worn treads, fit new handrails and spindles and cure creaks, which for a characterful older staircase is usually far better than a full replacement.
